Sonnet 3: "I never meant to leave you so forlorn"

Short Description:

I wrote this Elizabethan sonnet for the people of Atlantia after losing two of our own unexpectedly in the space of a week.

Poem (Canso):

I never meant to leave you so forlorn.
In life I sought to fill your world with light
That could sustain you through each passing morn
And chase away the fears that come at night.
I gladly gave to you part of my soul,
But now I'm gone, and now you feel its lack.
The space I filled is but a gaping hole
You stare into and know I won't come back.
Can I return, or have we parted ways?
My kindness lives in those for whom I cared,
My eyes from tender faces still will gaze -
I'm here for you to find in all we've shared.
Let not my legacy be death and strife.
Remember me, and love me back to life.
